Hainan currently has three commercial international airports: Haikou Meilan International Airport, Sanya Phoenix International Airport, and Qionghai Bo’ao International Airport.
Located in West Hainan, Danzhou International Airport is expected to complete construction work and open in 2018, serving as a hub en route to Southeast Asia. Soon, Hainan will have four “wings” with which to fly.

As of August 30th, 2016, Haikou Meilan International Airport has multiple routes to locations such as Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, and Laos. Sanya Phoenix International Airport has routes to cities in Southeast Asia, such as Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
During the first half of 2016, Haikou opened its first intercontinental route, Haikou – Chongqing – Rome, and in the second half of the year opened another two international routes, Haikou – Phnom Penh and Haikou – Siem Reap, and reinstated the Haikou – Kaohsiung route. Another two new direct routes to Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk, Russia have been added, while the Haikou – Kuala Lumpur international route is scheduled to open soon.
By the end of 2016, Haikou is expected to offer a total of 18 international routes.

Bus Schedule :
One airport bus departs Civil Aviation Hotel (across from Pearl Plaza) for the airport every 30 minutes daily from 5:30 AM to 21:00 PM.
Airport Buses at Haikou Meilan Airport Station begin services with arrival of the first flight and operate until the arrival of the last flight, and depart toward the city once the bus has boarded an adequate number of passengers.

Taxis

For your protection, please take taxis only from the taxi stand, and avoid any touts who may approach you in other locations. Taxis must use the meter to calculate the fare, instead of bargaining with passengers for a higher fee.
Meilan Airport is approximately 30km from downtown Haikou. Taxi fare is approximately RMB 60.
Starting rate for taxis in Haikou is RMB 10; an additional RMB 2/km is charged for distances over 3km. In the case of traffic congestion, an additional RMB 3 is charged per minute of wait time (including the time of both traffic jams and time spent waiting for traffic lights)
Starting February 15, 2015, an added fuel fee of RMB 1 is charged for every taxi ride on Haikou taxis. This fee is in addition to the taxi meter charge. So if the meter shows 50 RMB at the end of the ride, the passenger should pay a total of 51 RMB.
Starting December 31, 2013, the Haikou City Public Transportation Group official launched a taxi service hotline. Callers can enjoy 24-hour taxi reservation services at the 96799 taxi hotline.
In the interest of protecting your rights and safety, please board only licensed taxis. Say no to illegal taxis, solicitation, forced car pooling, and other illegal practices. Utilize licensed taxis, refuse bargaining, use the meter rates, and remember to ask the taxi driver for a receipt ( fapiao发票) when alighting. If you have forgotten something in the cab, the receipt is essential in finding the taxi and asking for your lost item.
High-speed Rail
The high-speed rail is the most convenient way to reach the airport from Haikou East Station in Haikou City. The ride from Haikou East Station to Meilan Airport takes just 7 minutes and brings you directly inside the airport just one floor below the Departures Hall. The fare is RMB 5.5 per person. The earliest train to Meilan Airport departs at 7:00 AM, and the latest at 21:40 PM.

Long-distance Bus Information
Haikou East Station
offers routes to Ding’an, Wenchang, Qionghai, Wanning, Lingshui, and Sanya along the East Line, Wuzhi Mountain on the Central Line, and Changjiang on the West Line. The earlist bus departs at 5:50 AM, and the latest at 22:30 PM.
Haikou South Station
offers routes to Ding’an, Qionghai, Wanning, and Lingshui on the East Line, and Baoting, Wuzhi Mountain, Tunchang, Qiongchong, and Ledong on the Central Line. The earliest bus departs at 6:00 AM, and the latest at 19:40 PM.
Haikou West Station

Train
Guangdong–Hainan Railway
The Guangdong–Hainan Railway spans from Zhanjiang, Guangdong to Hai’an, crossing the Qiongzhou Strait to reach Haikou City, Hainan. The 345m long railway follows the Hexi Central Railway and passes through Chengmai County, Danzhou City, and Chahe Station, thereafter converging with the existing Chahe Railway into Sanya Railway. It is China’s first cross-sea railroad. Hainan offers trains arriving at and departing from Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Shanghai, Xi’an, and Harbin. Routes pass through many cities across the country, making it exceptionally convenient to travel by train to Hainan.

Hainan Ring High-Speed Railway
The Hainan Ring High-Speed Railway officially opened in December 2015 as the first circular line that encircles an entire island. Passengers on the High Speed Train can travel around the entire island with remarkable speed and ease. The “Hainan Ring High-Speed Railway is the first high speed railway to encircle an island in the entire world, and train enthusiasts won’t want to miss the opportunity to ride! The speed perfectly showcases the beautiful scenery, giving you the best view of Hainan in the shortest time possible.

The East Line features 15 Stations:
Haikou, Changliu, Xiuying, Chengxi, Haikou East, Meilan Airport, Wenchang, Qionghai, Bo’ao, Hele, Wanning, Shenzhou, Lingshui, Yalong Bay, and Sanya Station. Changliu, Xiuying, Chengxi, and Hele Stations are not yet fully operational, while Sanya and Haikou Stations are connecting stations to the West Circular Line. A total of 6 additional stations, Dongzhai Bay, Fengjia Bay, Shan’gen, Sun and Moon Bay, Gaofeng, and Haitang Bay Stations will be gradually phased in.
The West Line features 17 Stations: Haikou, Laocheng Town, Fushan Town, Lingao South, Yintan, Baimajing, Qizi Bay, Dongfang, Jinyue Bay, Jianfeng, Huangliu, Ledong, Yazhou, Phoenix Airport, Sanya West (cargo stop), and Sanya Station.
