The 2023 Dongpo Food Culture Festival is set to open on February 16th, under the theme ” Deliciously Crafted, Savouring Dongpo.”
The month-long festival will be held in the Old Wharf Square (near Hainan University South Gate) and feature events including a Dongpo food culture seminar and a “Dongpo four major cuisine” food weeks.
These events aim to showcase Dongpo food culture to both local and international audiences and make it a cultural and tourism icon of Hainan.
During the opening ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to taste and enjoy delicacies from ten “Dongpo cities” including Meishan, Huanggang, Huizhou, Changsha, Yangzhou, Xuzhou, Kaifeng, Changzhou, Hangzhou, and Danzhou in Hainan.
Additionally, the Dongpo food culture seminar will invite representatives from relevant associations or companies to discuss the high-quality development of Dongpo cuisine in Dongpo cities.
The “Dongpo and the four major cuisine food weeks” event aims to promote an exchange and fusion of Dongpo cuisine with other Chinese cuisines.
To further promote the cultural and tourism value of Dongpo cuisine, the festival will hold a “My Favourite Dongpo/Other Cuisine Dish” contest.
This event will be combined with promotional and live streaming events to establish Dongpo cuisine as a tourism icon of Hainan.
It is hoped that this event will establish Dongpo cuisine as a tourism icon in Hainan, and enhance the cultural and tourism value of the region.
